The gang-gang cockatoo is overall a good choice. Their tails are like the colours of the sunset from yellow, orange to red. Females’ bodies are covered in black feathers edged in gold while their heads carry yellow spots. The highly decorative plumage of the Red-tailed Black-Cockatoo make it a favourite amongst bird watchers. Typically moves to higher altitudes during summer and returns to lower ranges in winter. Primarily scaly gray-green adult male has bright red ‘helmet’ and fluffy crest. Our reserve has never been cleared and was lucky enough to escape the devastation of the 2019-20 bushfires, leaving valuable habitat for the birds and koalas alike.
